# Command: DHCP

Format: `DHCP ON` or `DHCP OFF`

Sets the device flag for persistent DHCP requests. The device will request a DHCP address on boot (if the static address is 0.0.0.0). If none is supplied, the device will use the fallback address, but will continue requesting a DHCP address. If and when a DHCP address is provided, the device will reboot and ask again for a DHCP address.

This mode is provided for systems that include a DHCP server that boots more slowly than the device.

{% hint style="info" %}
Most system do not include a DHCP server.
{% endhint %}
