# Multi-Unit 1:1

The 1:1 case is not actually a multi-unit case. It is the basic configuration for which the ROVL was designed. All ROVL units can operate in a 1:1 configuration. If a topside GPS is also used, the absolute position of the ROV or diver can be determined.

{% hint style="info" %}
The 1:1 case is supported by all Cerulean software. Additionally, users can write their own software to make of of the positional information created.
