Closing the Case

The cases must be closed properly or it will leak, ot the o-ring or screws may be damaged.

Water damage caused by leaks due to improper preparation or installation of penetrators or installation of the case back is not covered under warranty.

To close the case:

  1. Tidy up the cabling and make sure no cables or wires will be caught between the case front and back when the case is closed. Tie the cables with string, electrical tape, or nylon wire ties as necessary. A pinched wire will always cause a fatal leak, and the wire may be ruined.

  2. Clean any dust, dirt, grit, hair or other foreign objects off the o-ring and the o-ring groove in the case front and the o-ring mating surface on the case back.

  3. Make sure the o-ring is lightly lubricated with a suitable o-ring lubricant such as Molykote 111 grease from Blue Robotics or from McMaster-Carr in the US.

  4. Place the case back on the case front.

  5. Insert the 16 flat-head screws in their holes.

  6. Tighten all 16 screws just until you start to feel them seating in the case back. Use a 2mm hex wrench.

  7. When all 16 screws are starting seat and all feel about the same amount snugness, start going around and around, tightening each screw 1/2 turn at a time.

  8. When all 16 screws are tight, you are done. Remember these are small screws threaded into aluminum. You don't need to tighten them like they are lug nuts on an automobile wheel.
