# Powering the Network Hub

The Network Hub is designed to be powered from a USB-C port on a laptop computer, **for the basic loads of ROV tether interface plus either wired Omnitrack** or **Wi-Fi access point for Wi-Fi Omnitrack**. The USB-C port must meet the USB-C specification to supply nominally 3A at 5V (not all USB-C meet the USB-C specification). [If additional PoE loads are added you may need to use an alternative power source.](/c/omniswitch-network-hub/what-if-my-usb-port-cant-power-the-network-hub.md)
