# GNSS Compass

The Omnitrack includes a GNSS compass that can connect to the ROVL topside unit. A GNSS compass consists of two GNSS antenna/processing modules (a base and a rover) that connect to the ROVL topside unit.

We strongly recommend that Omnitrack systems include a GNSS compass. The system will work without a GNSS compass with many features lost, but ROV location accuracy is compromised and additional software work is required by the user to provide the ROV with a [global origin and initial position](https://docs.ceruleansonar.com/c/omnitrack/additional-omnitrack-system-components/broken-reference).
