# Wi-Fi Configuration Specs

**Power:** the Wi-Fi module and ROVL requires about 6 Watts in normal operation and moderate distance from the other Wi-Fi radio. 6 watts = 400 mA at 14.8V. A 4000 mAh 14.8 V battery will last about 10 hours in normal usage.

**Range:** With our standard 7 dBi gain antennae (included) you can expect about 250 meters of range to a similarly-equipped base station. Using a laptop with no external antenna at one end and the standard 7 dBi gain antenna on the Omnitrack, you can expect 20 to 30 meters of range, with wide variations depending on the placement and orientation of the laptop.

**Band:** 2.4 GHz

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.ceruleansonar.com/c/omnitrack/omnitrack-wi-fi-module-system/wi-fi-configuration-specs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
