# ROVL + NMEA Output

It may be useful to output NMEA formatted data from SonarView representing the position of the target unit (transmitter/transponder).

To set this up, go to Session Configurations and add the ROVL as a device

Then add an NMEA Ouput device. This is where the NMEA data will be sent to from SonarView. You can configure which messages you want.<br>

Finally, add them to a session and connect to it. Once the topside unit has a global position and the ROVL is getting valid data, NMEA data will automatically sent to the specified location.
