DVL Command Window

The DVL command window (see Figure below) is most often used to set the configuration of the DVL. It also has shortcut buttons for other DVL commands. The basics are:

  • “Set DVL Position” is used to send a latitude/longitude to the DVL in the event the DVL is not connected to a GPS. Enter Latitude and Longitude in the textbox in DD or DDM format, and then click the button to send.

  • “Grab IMU Cal” is used with the baseline IMU. See the section on calibrating the baseline IMU. It has no effect if the Upgraded IMU is used.

  • “Unicast to Me” – see the command description.

  • “Reboot DVL” is mostly used for Cerulean software debugging.

  • “Reset IMU” – See the section on calibrating the advanced baseline IMU.

  • “Send Discover” – Sends a discovery request to the DVL via Ethernet. Used for debugging your configuration. Has no effect if the DVL is connected via serial.

  • Non-volatile settings – see the relevant command description sections in the manual.

  • Freeform DVL commands can be typed into the command textbox. The command is sent when you press “Enter.”

  • The larger panel at the bottom of the window shows recent DVL replies. The scrollbar can be used to look back in the history.

  • The Comm Status is intended for debugging, and shows what command was sent (in the Figure, a “?” command was sent) and what hardware was used (“Ethernet” in the Figure) and the result of the attempt to send (“OK” in the Figure). Note: this is not the response to the latest command from the DVL. Any response from the DVL is shown in the “replies” window.
