Omnitrack Assembly Instructions

Omnitrack assembly includes some elements common to all mounting methods. Please review the following items before starting your assembly project.

Bolts — All bolts are stainless steel and are M4, M5, or M6 sizes. Except as noted, all bolts will include a washer on each side and a nylon-insert locknut ("nyloc" nut). Exception: the M4 flat-head screws used to anchor lanyards do not have a washer under the head.

Nyloc Nuts — Nyloc nuts are not designed to be installed and removed repeatedly. Minimize the number of times you tighten and loosen them. Also avoid using a fast power drive to install the nuts. Spinning the nuts on and off quickly will overheat and burn the nylon locking insert.

Assemblies — When installing an assembly, attach all the bolts loosely before tightening any bolts to their final torque.

Torque — Unless noted, bolts should be tightened until they just stop turning freely, and then one-quarter turn more.

Anti-corrosion Bushings — To prevent galvanic corrosion, we provide nylon bushings where needed. You should never be putting a washer directly against a metal part, not the U-channels that make up the frames nor the crossbars on a BlueBoat or BlueBuoy. Bushings look like washers with shoulders and are press-fit into their holes. M6 bushings may be black or natural nylon color, and install into 8mm diameter holes. M4 bushings are natural nylon color and install into 6mm diameter holes. There are no M5 needed. Note there are also spring-loaded 6mm bushings that are installed on the inside of U-channels.
