ROV Locator (ROVL)
An Ethernet-capable ROV Locator receiver or transceiver is needed for all Omnitrack systems. It is not required to use the Ethernet interface (although many features are lost when using serial or USB interfaces), and you can use either a Mk II or Mk III ROVL system.
We strongly recommend the Mk III variant for Omnitrack because it simplifies field operation. A Mk III does not require periodic exposure to GPS signals to maintain timebase synchronization between the topside and ROV-mounted components.
Older versions of the ROVL do not include Ethernet or GNSS compass interfaces and cannot be used in an Omnitrack system. It is possible to upgrade an older ROVL receiver or transceiver to be Omnitrack-capable. Contact Cerulean Sonar for details.
