Quick Start: Omnitrack Buoy Wired/Tethered

This page will cover the basic deployment and operation of the Wired Omnitrack system with the BlueROV2.

Requirements:

This guide is written assuming that the Omnitrack system is outfitted with the MKIII ROVL. If using a different ROVL, the term "Transponder" instead refers to the "Transmitter," and the term "Transceiver" instead refers to the "Receiver."

Hardware:

  • Wired Omnitrack Buoy Kit

  • Optional Omniswitch Network Hub or BaseStation Plus

Software:

Setting up the Omnitrack Buoy

  1. Unbox Omnitrack. See unboxing/assembly video. Be careful not to damage the ROVL Transceiver as its cable is connected to the buoy! Do not forget the included accessory package and ROVL Transponder in the packaging.

  2. Assemble the Omni Track. See unboxing/assembly video.

Connecting the Omnitrack to a Network

  • If you are using the Omniswitch network hub, follow the PC setup directions here.

  • If you are using a BaseStation Plus, connect the Omnitrack through a POE injector to an RJ-45 port on the BaseStation Plus and follow the PC setup directions here.

  • If you are doing your own network bridging, see here.
